EXPERIMENTAL WORK

The work Magda is presently producing delivers critical commentary on the current socio-political climate of South Africa, and therefore could be regarded as controversial. She uses the surface of her vessels as a canvas, on which she projects an inner dialogue pertaining to her childhood, and juxtaposing it with issues prevalent in this country such as corruption, rape, farm murders, women abuse, civil wars, and human trafficking. She tackles these contentious topics from a personal perspective, drawing from events that have shaped her existence. She makes use of experimental lithographic processes, ceramic transfers, metallics and a variety of glazes in her current works.
