RUBBER AND RECYCLING

RUBBER This line focuses on the reinvention and utilisation of rubber from an industrial waste material to an artistic medium. Over time her passion for recycling grew and she started engaging with ways in which to utilise recycled products in our design driven society.  This became more evident in her work as she proceeded to grow as a designer. She has always liked fringe culture, the downtrodden and that which is regarded as peripheral. Rubber being dirty and lying abandoned in scrap yards, destined for landfills, had just the profile that appealed to her. She experimented extensively and immediately took a liking to it. The handmade pot planters and bags come in a multitude of once off designs that are inspired by organic and geometric shapes that surround Magda. The industrial chic aesthetic permeates Magda’s design style, and is most prominent in this range. The upcycling of resources others would deem as waste has always fascinated Magda. In the current environmental situation we find ourselves in, she believes it is critical to utilise both natural and manmade products in order to create aesthetic and meaningful artworks. As an artist, she strives to convey to the viewer that art is everywhere, from an empty milk bottle to a discarded inner tube of a tyre.
